On Wednesday, one armed warrior was captured alive and a gun recovered from him by 45 Infantry Battalion of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) operating under 405 Brigade in the North Eastern border district of Kaabong.

Lemu Loumo, a male adult and resident of Limoruchorong village, Lokerui Parish, Kaabong West Sub County in Kaabong District was captured a live and gun number AEI -1895 with seven bullets recovered after a force of 45 Infantry Battalion had a fire exchange with his splitter warrior group in Kajiri village.

Captured warrior, Lemu shall appear in courts of law to answer charges on cattle rustling, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition among other counts.

The cattle rustlers had raided 43 heads of cattle from Kacheri Sub county in Kotido, fortunately due to timely intelligence and close coordination the force was able to intercept and make recoveries in the shortest engagement.

The recovered cattle t shall be escorted to Regen protected holding ground for proper identification and hand over to rightful owners, a process which is normally expedited by area local leadership.

The interception is one of the successful operations this month as cattle rustlers continue to suffer losses in the restive Karamoja Sub region.

Joint security forces remain committed in execution of their mandate and conduct of disarmament operations in order to pacify the Karamoja Sub region.
