The Joint Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of DR Congo (FADRC) have killed three suspected rebels belonging to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Ituri province of DR Congo under their ongoing “Operation Shujaa.”
Maj. Bilal Katamba, the spokesperson for Operation Shujja and the Mountain Division revealed that the three rebels were neutralized on Saturday following a confrontation on the west bank of River Lunah in Matunguru Valley, North East of Maitattu, Irumu territory in Ituri province.
Additionally, the joint forces managed to rescue five children and three women during the operation. Bilal explained that the rescued women had been abducted during an ambush by suspected ADF rebels on a bus traveling from Kamanda to Beni in November 2021, based on the information obtained.
Furthermore, Bilal mentioned that in the course of the operation, the joint forces seized an RPG bomb and medicines used by the rebels. The pursuit of the remaining members of the ADF group continues.
