The territorial Police at Kampala Metropolitan North conducted a coordinated intelligence-led operation on May 3. resulting in the apprehension of JIN YUNGUNG, a 33-year-old Chinese national residing in Ganda, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso.
Mr. YUNGUNG was found operating a shop engaged in the illicit sale of government property, specifically army uniforms, shoes, and gloves, at Kasaga Shop No.14. The operation, prompted by intelligence reports, led to the seizure of significant quantities of military equipment, including uniforms resembling those of the UPDF and SFC.
Investigations uncovered Mr. YUNGUNG’s collaboration with an individual known only as Frank, allegedly affiliated with the Special Forces Command (SFC), who provided the business idea and financing. Mr. YUNGUNG confessed that some uniforms were procured from Somalia.
Further revelations showed that Mr. YUNGUNG entered Uganda as a tourist, renewing his visa periodically by traveling to neighboring countries.
