Youth in Kasese district have been encouraged to leverage emerging technologies to promote the district as a prime tourism destination.

State Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Kabyanga, highlighted that despite past negative media publicity and insecurity, Kasese is now making strides towards development.

Kabyanga emphasized that the district’s peace, stability, and friendly business environment, combined with its national parks, beautiful scenery, and rich culture, should be aggressively marketed using technology.

He was speaking during the closure of a four-day ICT and multimedia training for youths held in Kasese town. Kabyanga also noted that with the expansion of better infrastructure, Kasese and the Rwenzori region are poised for significant growth.

Eddie Okila, Executive Director of House of Talent, led the team of trainers and emphasized the importance of molding young people to utilize technology to generate income.

Kareem Bwabale, one of the trainees, remarked that the youthful generation is quick to embrace technology and is therefore well-suited to drive the tourism industry forward. However, he called on the government to support them with unlimited access to the internet.
