During his meeting with Ghana’s Parliament Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin, President Museveni emphasized the importance of prioritizing politics of interest over identity for the prosperity of the people.

Rejecting divisive tribal and religious politics, he also encouraged a focus on patriotism for national well-being.

Speaking at the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth in Kampala, Museveni urged leaders to embrace politics of patriotism, emphasizing Uganda’s potential for investment.

He highlighted Uganda’s readiness for investment and its comprehensive offerings, including a robust market for finished goods.

“We have a lot of potential, we are ready, let the leaders come and we talk. We have everything here; there’s nothing we don’t have. We are organizing the African Common Market,” he highlighted.

In discussions with Sri Lanka’s Parliament Speaker, Rt Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Museveni expressed Uganda’s openness for collaboration and investment, showcasing its capabilities for fostering economic growth.

Additionally, Museveni addressed the socio-political dynamics of South Sudan, engaging in talks about elections and other issues with South Sudan National Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba.

The Commonwealth Speakers expressed gratitude for Museveni’s insights and commended his leadership exhibited during the discussions.

President Museveni made these remarks while holding discussions with a group of Parliamentary Speakers from several countries at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, Kampala.

The Speakers are part of the ongoing 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) being held in Kampala from January 3-6.
