A murder investigation is underway in Nakaseke District after a farm manager was allegedly hacked to death by a fellow employee at Herbert’s Farm in Kikamulo Sub-county.
The deceased has been identified as Emmanuel Ainemukama, 30, the farm manager at Herbert’s Farm in Magoma Village, Magoma Parish, where he also lived.The incident occurred on Sunday at around 2:00 p.m. According to preliminary police investigations, Ainemukama was preparing herbicide for spraying when he was allegedly attacked by a colleague, Nicholas Kabandize, who reportedly hacked him several times before fleeing the scene.
A fellow worker reported the incident to Kiwoko Town Council Police Station, prompting officers to visit and document the scene before opening a murder case. Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima said detectives recorded statements from witnesses and transported the body to Nakaseke General Hospital for a postmortem examination.According to Twiineamazima, officers found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with multiple sharp-force injuries on his left wrist and other parts of the body. However, despite an extensive search, the suspected murder weapon was not recovered.
Police investigations indicate that the suspect had allegedly threatened the deceased on previous occasions. The two men reportedly worked and lived together on the farm.Twiineamazima said police have launched a manhunt for Kabandize and are working to arrest him so he can be brought before court to answer the allegations. He appealed to members of the public to resolve disputes through lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
The latest killing adds to a growing number of homicide cases reported in the Savannah Region, which covers Luwero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts. Last month, police in Nakasongola arrested two men over the murder of Paulin Acca, a 30-year-old mother of seven from Nakayonza Village in Lwabyata Sub-county. One of the suspects was her husband, Cosma Benjamin Mpalimanya. URN
