President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged a contribution of Shs 200 million towards the construction of Lwengo Muslim District Headquarters and Health Center IV.

Addressing attendees during the fundraising ceremony held on Thursday, in Mbirizi, Lwengo Town Council, President Museveni expressed his commitment to support the initiative.

“Since I’m one of the people in government with capacity, I will begin by contributing Shs 200 million. If further funds are needed, I am willing to increase my contribution.” He stated.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Muslim community in spearheading the project, President Museveni emphasized the importance of widespread community involvement in fundraising efforts. He highlighted the significance of stable incomes among households to facilitate substantial contributions towards community development projects.

President Museveni also granted permission for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers Brigade to oversee the construction, following a request from Lwengo District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Cissy Namujju.

Furthermore, President Museveni underscored the importance of economic participation for all households, emphasizing the government’s commitment to socio-economic transformation through initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM). He urged NRM leaders to ensure that every family engages in income-generating activities.

Regarding education, President Museveni reiterated his support for free education in government schools, emphasizing its role in fostering national development. He called for unity among Ugandans, irrespective of their tribal or religious affiliations.

Acknowledging President Museveni’s contributions, various attendees including Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Hon. Cissy Namujju, Mr. Kitatta Ibrahim, and Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje expressed gratitude for his visionary leadership and support towards the development of Lwengo and Uganda as a whole.

The outgoing Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja commended President Museveni for being able to unite Ugandans irrespective of their different tribes and religions.
“Seeing people here from different religious denominations is not by chance, it is because of you. You have always taught us unity. We no longer have differences in tribes and religions. Thank you very much sir.”
The Lwengo District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Cissy Namujju thanked President Museveni for his visionary leadership that has led to the development of Lwengo and Uganda as a whole.
The Lwengo District LC5 Chairperson, Mr. Kitatta Ibrahim welcomed the President to Lwengo and thanked him for his support toward the district.
“Your Excellency, we thank you for giving us a specialised hospital in Lwengo and once the construction works are done, we shall invite you to commission it.”

The event was also attended by government officials, religious leaders, and community representatives, affirming the collective commitment to the advancement of the district and the nation at large.
