President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday welcomed Mr. Nicolas Terraz, President for Exploration and Production at TotalEnergies, during a courtesy meeting at State House-Entebbe.

Mr. Terraz, who has been overseeing operations at the oil exploration sites under the Tilenga project, briefed President Museveni on the project’s advancements and sought further support to ensure its success.

“I visited the sites at Tilenga and the pipeline. The drilling and pipeline activities are progressing smoothly,” he noted.

Highlighting the project’s impact, Mr. Terraz mentioned that over 8,000 Ugandans are now employed within the oil project.

President Museveni extended a warm welcome to Mr. Terraz, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing full support for the project’s success.

Accompanying Mr. Terraz were Mr. Mike Sangster, Senior Vice President Africa-Total Energies, Mr. Philippe Groueix, General Manager TotalEnergies EP Uganda, Mr. Martin Tiffen, Managing Director-East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), and Ms. Mariam Nampeera, Deputy General Manager Total Energies EP Uganda.

The meeting was graced by the presence of Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Matia Kasaijja, Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, alongside officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

In Uganda, the Tilenga project, managed by Total Energies, encompasses the development of six oil fields and the drilling of approximately 400 wells across 31 locations. Oil extracted will be transported to the Tanzanian port of Tanga through a 1,443 km underground pipeline.
