It is alleged that Webisa unlawfully had carnal knowledge of Namulinde without her consent and later murdered her with malice aforethought.
The City Hall Magistrates Court has remanded 22-year-old Marvin Webisa to Luzira Prison on charges of rape, aggravated robbery, and murder of Kampala city socialite and TikToker Diana Namulinde. Webisa appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu, who read the charges to him.
The magistrate informed the accused that the court lacks jurisdiction to try capital offences and therefore did not allow him to take a plea. Prosecution told the court that Webisa, a security guard attached to Gibeon Security System and a resident of Kiwatule Zone, Nakawa Division in Kampala District, together with others still at large, allegedly committed the offences on February 4, 2026, at Kyanja Kwata Zone in Kampala District. It is alleged that Webisa unlawfully had carnal knowledge of Namulinde without her consent and later murdered her with malice aforethought.
The prosecution further alleges that on the same day, Webisa and his accomplices robbed Namulinde of several items, including an iPhone 17 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy A15, a power bank, earpods, a black laptop bag, 19 handbags, two suitcases, multiple pairs of shoes, seven T-shirts, and other personal belongings, all valued at approximately Shs18,620,000. It is further alleged that the murder occurred during or immediately after the robbery.
Namulinde, 24, was buried last Friday in Namayumba Sub-County, Kyampisi, Wakiso District. Her death comes amid growing concern over a spate of killings involving women reported in recent weeks. Speaking during the launch of the Second National Court Case Census Report 2025 at the Supreme Court two weeks ago, Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija noted that criminal cases dominate the Judiciary, standing at 65,709 cases, followed by civil cases at 44,911 and land-related disputes at 33,496. Webisa has been remanded to Luzira Prison until March 3, 2026, as investigations continue.
