Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, the Chief Justice, commended the departing UNDP representative, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, as a significant asset and genuine development ally to the Judiciary during a farewell dinner at his Nakasero residence on Thursday.

At this dinner, Dollo also expressed gratitude for Elsie’s understanding of the transformative agenda and her substantial contributions towards its realization.

Having served as the UNDP Resident Representative in Uganda for four and a half years, Ms. Attafuah is now set to embark on a new assignment in Nigeria.

The Chief Justice assured her that all funds allocated to the Judiciary would be meticulously accounted for and emphasized her enduring connection to the Judiciary family.

“You are considered a member of the Judiciary family… And we thank you for the ‘co-pilots’ you have left behind, and we look forward to continuity in the relationship between the UNDP and the Judiciary,” Dollo emphasized.

Dr. Pius Bigirimana, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Judiciary, expressed gratitude to Ms. Attafuah for nurturing the relationship between the Judiciary and the UNDP throughout her tenure.

He acknowledged the UNDP’s support, such as the installation of video conferencing systems in various high courts and corresponding prisons.

Ms. Attafuah, in her remarks, thanked the Chief Justice for his honoring gesture and acknowledged him as an inspirational leader with visionary goals for the Judiciary and the nation. She also appreciated the efficiency and effectiveness demonstrated by the Permanent Secretary in financial matters.

In recognition of her invaluable contribution to advancing judicial transformation in Uganda, the Chief Justice presented an award to Ms. Attafuah during the farewell dinner.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera, Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija, Lady Justice Damalie N. Lwanga, Justice Musa Ssekaana, and officials from the UNDP, including Deputy Resident Representative Ms. Sheila Ngatia.
