Fortune Energy Group has announced a bold expansion of its fuel operations into Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (Lumumbashi) and Malawi.

This strategic move, undertaken in partnership with a UAE-based investor, is designed to widen the network of fuel tank farms across the region, enhance fuel availability, and strengthen the energy supply chain for critical industries, particularly copper mining.

At the heart of this initiative lies the construction of new pipelines linking Dar es Salaam to Zambia. By improving the efficiency of fuel transportation, the project aims to ease logistical bottlenecks and reduce costs for mining companies that rely heavily on consistent energy supplies.

The copper sector, a cornerstone of the regional economy, stands to benefit significantly from this improved infrastructure, which will ensure reliable access to fuel and support sustained industrial growth.

The investment, projected to exceed $6 billion over the next three years, represents one of the most ambitious energy infrastructure undertakings in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

Beyond fuel storage and distribution, the project is expected to catalyze broader economic activity, creating jobs, stimulating trade, and reinforcing regional integration.

Captain Mike Mukula, Chairman of Fortune Energy Group, emphasized that this expansion reflects the increasingly favorable investment climate across Africa.

“The continent is experiencing a surge in economic growth and opportunities, particularly within the SADC region. Our commitment is to harness these opportunities by building infrastructure that supports industrialization and sustainable development,” he stated.

Mukula highlighted that the partnership with the UAE-based investor underscores the growing confidence of international stakeholders in Africa’s economic trajectory.

By combining regional expertise with global capital, Fortune Energy Group aims to deliver long-term value not only to shareholders but also to communities across Zambia, DRC, and Malawi.

The expansion of tank farms will play a pivotal role in stabilizing fuel supply chains. These facilities will provide storage capacity to meet rising demand, reduce vulnerability to supply disruptions, and ensure that industries — from mining to transportation — can operate without interruption. In addition, the pipeline project will reduce reliance on road transport, cutting costs and minimizing environmental impact.

From a macroeconomic perspective, the investment aligns with Africa’s broader push toward infrastructure-led growth. Energy availability remains a critical bottleneck for industrialization, and initiatives such as this directly address that challenge.

By strengthening the energy ecosystem, Fortune Energy Group is positioning itself as a key enabler of regional competitiveness.

The ripple effects of this venture are expected to extend beyond the energy sector. Improved fuel availability will support agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics, while the construction phase will generate employment and skills transfer.

Moreover, the project will deepen trade ties between East Africa and Southern Africa, reinforcing Dar es Salaam’s role as a strategic gateway for regional commerce.

In the long term, Fortune Energy Group’s expansion is poised to contribute to the resilience and sustainability of Africa’s energy landscape.

By investing in infrastructure that underpins industrial growth, the company is not only securing its own future but also advancing the continent’s economic transformation agenda.

As Captain Mukula noted, “Africa is no longer a frontier market; it is a growth market. With the right investments in infrastructure, we can unlock the full potential of our resources and people.”

This $6 billion commitment signals a new chapter in the region’s energy story one defined by collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for prosperity. Fortune Energy Group’s expansion into Zambia, DRC, and Malawi is more than a business venture; it is a strategic investment in Africa’s future.
