First Son and army chief, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has joyfully announced that his son, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, officially joined the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) last month.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Gen Muhoozi said:
“I’m extremely happy to announce that after 31 years in God’s Army, UPDF, God has blessed the House of Museveni with another soldier as of last month. Private Ruhamya Kainerugaba, may Almighty God bless him as He did me.”
The development marks the continuation of military service within the Museveni-Kainerugaba family, with Gen Muhoozi himself having served in the UPDF for over three decades.
The announcement has since sparked conversation online, with supporters sending congratulatory messages and others noting the deepening of the family’s legacy within the armed forces.
Private Ruhamya’s enlistment comes at a time of heightened focus on the future leadership of both the UPDF and the country, where Gen Muhoozi remains a central and often controversial figure.
