Uganda’s long distance star athlete Jacob Kiplimo has confirmed his participations in the 15 Kilometers Sevens Hills road race and is already preparing for it.

The reigning world record holder in Half Marathon, told Uganda Radio Network, that he is ready to participate in the race which is scheduled for November 19th, 2023 in Nijmegen, Netherlands after recovering from the hamstring injury. 

“I feel ready after recently winning the Atapuerca Cross Country Championships in Spain” says Kiplimo, adding, “my discission to also debut in the upcoming Road race is part of preparations for the future Half Marathon competitions.”

Kiplimo is expected to face formidable competition from other elite athletes like Ronald Kwemoi and Rodgers Chumo both from Kenya, plus Ethiopia’s Yomiv Kajelcha and Selemon Barega.

Peter Chelangat, Kiplimo’s Ugandan Coach believes his athlete will probably deliver positive results at the event, for he has been following the road race training program.

“All along after his hamstring injury recovery, we have been designing for him suitable training sessions for road races, ”said Chelangat.
