The Uganda Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) on Tuesday hosted a high-level delegation from the Egyptian Police, highlighting growing regional cooperation under the leadership of CID Director, AIGP Tom Magambo.

The six-member Egyptian delegation, led by Brigadier General Ahmed Youssry Mohamed Hashem, paid a courtesy call on AIGP Magambo at CID headquarters as part of their ongoing visit to Uganda.

The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in criminal investigations and addressing shared security challenges.

Key areas explored during the talks included intelligence sharing, investigative best practices, and joint strategies to combat organized crime, terrorism, and cyber threats. Both sides underscored the importance of strengthened coordination to tackle transnational crime effectively.

Sources close to the meeting credited AIGP Magambo’s diplomatic leadership for attracting such high-level international partnerships. Since assuming leadership at CID, Magambo has actively pursued engagements that position Uganda as a hub for collaborative law enforcement initiatives, drawing strategic partners from across Africa and beyond.

“Director Magambo’s proactive approach to international cooperation has been central in building bridges with other law enforcement agencies, paving the way for practical outcomes in cross-border investigations,” a senior police officer noted.

Brigadier General Hashem expressed appreciation for Uganda’s hospitality and welcomed the potential for future joint training programs and operational exchanges.

He emphasized that such partnerships align with Egypt’s broader agenda of strengthening African security collaboration.

Officials expect that Tuesday’s discussions will pave the way for formal agreements, further solidifying the Uganda-Egypt police partnership and reinforcing Uganda’s role in promoting regional stability under AIGP Magambo’s guidance.
